t’s safe to assume that we understand that, when we install software, it will write various files to your system and add entries to your Registry. These can cause issues with your PC, especially when you try and uninstall at a later date (I’m aware of this situation right now, being unable to remove the old public beta of Adobe Dreamweaver CS4, even though CS3 is installed and I’ve just paid for an upgrade to CS4 - but the beta has timed out and can’t be removed from the regular uninstaller or via a third-party tool such as Revo Uninstaller. Grrr!) and find that your system won’t boot quickly as it’s looking for files that do not existing on your computer.

Sandboxie 3.34 is one solution. This free tool creates a safe and secure sandbox that enables you to install, test and run software. When you want to get rid of the test software, remove the sandbox and nothing affects your regular computer. You can use the sandbox to test and examine new software before you decide whether it’s really worth installing on your PC.

The problem with security software is that we over rely on their technology to protect our system, so become careless in our attitude. We open obscure emails, read attachments, download software from sites we’ve never previously visited and automatically accept a file from a friend, what chatting online. It’s easy to infect your computer and mostly you’re at fault. If you find your system slows due to your installed security software, it’s too easy to turn off proactive scanning or the scanning of archived files. However, it’s these files that can end up infecting your PC.
